Are you aware that this is domestic violence awareness month (contd)?

I got flowers today and it wasn't Mother's Day or any other special day. Last night he beat me again. And it was much worse than all the other times. If I leave him, what will I do? How will I take care of my kids? What about money? I'm afraid of him and scared to leave. But I know he must be sorry because he sent me flowers today.





I got flowers today. Today was a very special day. It was the day of my funeral. Last night he finally killed me. He beat me to death. If only I had gathered enough courage and strength to leave him, I would not have gotten flowers today.

This poem is great, I copy pasted it and will translate it to Spanish to give it to all my co-workers. (cuz to make you all tremble with envy I live in the beautiful island of PUERTO RICO!!! LOL ;-))

Reply:OMG!!!!!!!! this made me cry.... It bring up so many memories of the past, At one point of my life, i wished he would had killed me, But i got out!!!! it was hard that was 10 yrs ago!!!! Now I'm happy and loving life... Thank you for the poem
Reply:Life is too short to live in even a verbally abusive or loveless enviroment. I'm happy for all those who get counseling or have the courage to leave such a situation.
Reply:No I was not aware of this being domestic violence awareness month. As domestic violence is more of a problem than most people realize, I think every month people should be made aware of this. Thank you for making me aware of this problem.

So its my fault that he beats you and I need to be aware that you are staying with a looser that beats you. I know its complex. I am just glad I am a man.
Reply:Yes, I've read that poem before in fact it was hanging over my desk at work. Below is a video that I use to show when I went into the community help them become aware of domestic violence.

I know of the women out there who got away, and guess what i sent them flowers that day!
Reply:Thank you, and I am so happy that you were able to escape that monster. My state has the highest death rate in the nation from domestic violence. They just started a new court that only handles domestic violence cases.


As we both know, it is easy to say "leave him/her" but in reality, it is most difficult especially with no money to do so. It is even harder to leave with children.
