I dont hate these people because of their professing they do not believe in God but i%26#039;ve always wondered how do they plan to face death when it is at their door stepts.Do they want a funeral service with flowers %26amp; speeches about their life or just throw them in the furnace %26amp; just burn them up %26amp; throw their ashes away? Why do they not believe in God?
If an atheist was about to be ezecuted do you think he would want someone to pray for him ---just in case?
He or she would probably rather have the Governor call at the last minute.
Reply:They wanna be different.
Reply:%26quot;there is a way that seems right onto man, but its end is destruction%26#039;. Earthly convenience. In the end they can still repent. We have a loving Father.
Reply:I hope I%26#039;m never %26quot;ezecuted%26quot; but if I am, please pray to Thor ... just in case. ;-)
Reply:Nope - not me.
Reply:no,
but he certainly wouldn%26#039;t want a scientologist taking %26quot;thetan readings%26quot; and auditing to rip off what money they had that they would have passed on to thier children or favorite charity.
Reply:I want a funeral, but I want Rob Zombie to plan it.
Reply:Pick a question. And it%26#039;s %26quot;executed.%26quot;
I do not believe in God, or any other god or goddess. If someone wants to pray for me, it%26#039;s up to them. It will make them feel better, and as long as they get some comfort, it%26#039;s okay. When I die I want to be buried without any preservatives or anything. I will let my body return to the earth.
I do not believe in gods because I see no reason to. I%26#039;m perfectly happy the way I am. I live a pretty morally good life for an average human. If there really are gods, and they take exception to a human acting like a human, then they are not worthy of being worshiped anyways. I can be a good person and live my life without worrying about deities, or any other sort of supernatural repercussions.
Reply:No.
Reply:That%26#039;s several questions and I%26#039;ll attempt to answer them all.
If I were to be executed and somebody wanted to pray for me I%26#039;d let them. It has nothing to do with my beliefs or as a comfort to me and everything to do with their beliefs and comfort. If they will feel better praying to a non-existant gawd then I will let them. It makes no difference to if they pray or not, but if it helps them then I can%26#039;t see the harm.
As for my funeral, I want to have a wake. I want people there to celebrate my life and to remember who I was and what I meant to them. I want bright colours, music, good food, top shelf booze and nobody admitted if they%26#039;re wearing black. Then, after harvesting my organs as I no longer need them, throw me in the furnace and scatter my ashes to the wind.
And finally we don%26#039;t believe in your gawd simply because there%26#039;s no proof for his existence. What you see as evidence, we see as conjecture.
Reply:No.
Reply:I wouldn%26#039;t want someone to waste their time and effort praying for me. I%26#039;d want them to find me a better lawyer, and fast! And what would a funeral service with people remembering your life have to do with believing in god? I certainly expect the people I leave behind to miss me and want to remember me and my life. After all, I know that the people in my life exist, and that they affect me and I affect them, unlike god.
Reply:My grandma said she didn%26#039;t want any priests or anything like that at her funeral, she was pretty atheistic i guess.
Hated me like the pest too.
Reply:Well, I can%26#039;t speak for all atheists but I know that I wouldn%26#039;t care about having someone pray for me.
I will probably be cremated if I do not donate my body to research, but what my loved ones do for a memorial service is up to them. I will be dead, so they should do whatever comforts them.
I don%26#039;t believe in any god because I have yet to see any evidence that such things exist.
Reply:If you don%26#039;t hate %26quot;these people%26quot; why are you fantasizing about %26quot;ezecuting%26quot; them
Reply:We don%26#039;t believe in God because we tend to ignore things that aren%26#039;t real, like fairies and alien abduction, ghosts and all that nonsense.
I expect my corpse to be treated with respect but not because I still have any kind of existence. If someone was going to throw me in a furnace I%26#039;d prefer I was dead at the time.
Isn%26#039;t it funny that millions of Greeks used to pray to Zeus, Scandinavians prayed to Odin, Indians (most) pray to Shiva and Vishnu - but they%26#039;re all silly, aren%26#039;t they? The only god that%26#039;s real is YOUR god, right? What a happy coincidence for you. I%26#039;m sure none of those other people thought that their god was the only real one.
Reply:I don%26#039;t need anyone to pray for me when I%26#039;m dying, unless it makes the pray-er feel better. I%26#039;d like to be cremated and my ashes tossed into a fast, rocky river. My funeral will be my loved ones sitting around together in comfy clothes (no formal black) eating their favorite foods and talking about what a great life I%26#039;d lived.
Reply:I doubt it.
Has there ever been an atheist executed? i thought they were all Christians and Muslims.
Reply:I don%26#039;t think I would want someone to pray for me at my execution.
As far as my funeral I am donating my body to Science after that I don%26#039;t care what the do I will be dead and not caring either way.
