Goodbye My Beloved"
by Muhammad Alshareef, www.khutbah.com
In Bukhari and Muslim, narrated Usaamah ibn Zayd - radi Allaahu ‘anhuma: A woman sent to the Prophet - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - that her son was dying and that he should come to visit her.
The Prophet - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - sent back a message to her. In it he said, “To Allah belongs whatever he takes, and to Him belongs what He gives. Everything to Him has a decreed life, so be patient and seek the Reward with Allah.
She sent back with an oath that he -sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - must come in person to visit her. So Allah’s Messenger - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - stood and with him was Sa’d ibn Ubaadah, Mu’aadh ibn Jabal, Ubayy ibn Ka’b, and Zayd ibn Thabit, as well as others.
At her home, the young boy was given to the Prophet, sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam, it’s breathing faltering. The eyes of the Prophet - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - welled with tears.
Seeing the Prophet crying, Sa’d said to him, “What is this O Messenger of Allah?”
Rasul Allah - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - replied, “This is mercy which Allah has placed in the hearts of His servants. And indeed it is to only the merciful of His servants that Allah gives mercy.”
Dear brothers and sisters, this week has been a very trying week for us. Our brothers, and specifically our sisters, were tested with the death of sister Maryam, her daughter Muslimah and her daughter AlNisaa, all in one car accident. May Allah ta’ala increase their father’s reward, may Allah ta’ala perfect his patience, and may He forgive all three of them. Ameen.
When death hits so closely to home, to ones so young, many questions arise, especially from the young friends of Muslimah and AlNisaa. For this reason we would like to speak today about this topic: How do we say goodbye?
Ibn Al-Qayyim spoke in his book Zaad al-Ma’aad about the blessed guidance of the Prophet - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - at times of death. He writes:
It was from the blessed guidance of Rasul Allah - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - to convey his condolences to the family of the deceased. It was not from his blessed guidance to gather people to give condolences, nor was it his blessed guidance to recite Qur’an - neither at the grave nor away from the gravesite. All of this is Bid’ah, innovation and shunned. From his blessed guidance is his tranquility and acceptance of Allah’s decree, thanking Allah and holding back from saying things unbefitting. He - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - disowned himself from those that rip their clothes due to the calamity, or raise their voices in a wail, or those that shave their head because of the situation.
Where do our North American communities normally learn about the concept of love? For the answer, all you need to do is look over the top music charts to find out.
I searched the billboard charts to pick up some names as example. I found: “Love don’t cost a thing”, “What’s Luv”, “He loves you not”, as well as others. These are just the titles, not to speak of the content of the other songs, in addition to the TV shows, movies and everything in-between.
America is bombarding us with teachings of love, right? But on the flip side, every 7 minutes in this country, someone commits suicide. And every minute, someone tries. There was actually a guy who tried to capitalize on all these people who were incompetent in killing themselves. He called his book: The Final exit ~ a how-to book on killing yourself successfully. Subhan Allah, it was a national best seller.
Now I ask, when was the last time you heard an Islamic Halaqah about the concept of Love in Islam. Not too recently, I’m sure. Thus, we can safely say that Allah and His Messenger do not dictate to us many of the concepts of love that we harbor in our minds.
Allah ta’ala says: Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other… 43/67
We hear in the music and movies and sitcoms that ‘our hearts will live forever’ with the deceased. Dear brothers and sisters, that is wrong. Read the following verse:
Every time a nation enters, it will curse its sister until, when they have all overtaken one another therein, the last of them (the followers) will say about the first of them (the leaders), “Our Lord, they have misled us, so give them a double punishment of the fire.” He will say, “For each is double, but you do not know.” / … Indeed those who deny Our verses and are arrogant toward them - the gates of heaven will not be opened for them, nor will they enter Paradise until a camel enters into the eye of a needle (i.e. never). And thus do We pay back the criminals. Surah A’raaf 7/38,40
If a friendship was ever made for other than the sake of Allah, then that friendship ends at death. There is no ‘heart that lives on after death’.
But If you’ve ever loved someone because they said Laa ilaaha illa Allah, Muhammadur Rasul Allah, then I have good news for you: Your friendship will not end at death! It will never end at death. Completing the above verse: Allah ta’ala says: Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous! 43/67
And on the Day of Judgement, of the seven types of people who will find shade from the horrific heat will be two people who loved one another only for the sake of Allah. Imagine that, in the hardest time of your life, if you’ve loved someone for the sake of Allah, they will be saved hand-in-hand with you.
Do all good things come to an end? Good question. Summers come to an end, ice creams come to an end, and interesting Khutbahs come to an end. So what’s the answer?
Allah ta’ala says: Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting. And We surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do. Surah Nahl 16/96
Before the Hijrah from Makkah, there was a famous Qureishi poet by the name of Labeed bin Rabee’ah. In his company, one day, sat the great companion of the Prophet: Uthmaan ibn Madh’oon - radi Allaahu ‘anhu.
Labeed recited a verse of poetry: Indeed everything other than Allah is falsehood…
Uthmaan ibn Madh’oon replied, “You have told the truth.”
Labeed continued: … And every enjoyment, without doubt, will die.
“You have lied!” said Uthmaan ibn Madh’oon. “The enjoyment of paradise shall never end.”
This infuriated the group and one of the ignorant amongst them stood up and slapped Uthmaan ibn Madh’oon in the face, blackening his eye.
There are things that help us in times of sadness:
One: During times of sadness, Allah wants us to come back and reflect upon the Qur’an. That is what He revealed it for: contemplation. In it, the believer will find tranquility for his or her heart.
Two: Whatever happens, when someone is patient and says the dua that the Prophet - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - taught us, that person will be blessed with something better.
The Dua is as follows:
“Inna lillaahi wa inna Ilayhi raaji’oon. Allaahumma ‘jurnee fee museebatee, wakhluf lee khayrun minh.”
Umm Salamah - radi Allaahu ‘anha - the narrator of this dua, loved her husband very much. When he died, she states, “I was firm to say the dua, but I thought to myself, how could I get anything better then Abu Salamah? Allah answered my dua and I married the Messenger of Allah! And he is better then Abu Salamah.”
May Allah ta’ala make all us brothers good husbands like Rasul Allah - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - and Abu Salamah.
And for those who have had a child die, take glad tidings in the following Hadith:
Abu Moosa al-Ash’aree - radi Allaahu ‘anhu - narrates: Allah’s Messenger, sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam, said, “If the child of a servant (of Allah) dies, Allah questions the angels, ‘Have you taken the life of my servant’s child?’
“The angels reply, ‘Yes.’
“Allah then asks them, ‘Have you taken the fruit of his heart?’
“The angels reply, ‘Yes.’
“Then Allah asks them, ‘What did my servant say?’
“They reply, ‘He praised you and refrained (from saying anything unbefitting)’
“At that Allah will say, ‘Build a home for my slave in Jannah and call it Bayt-ul-Hamd (The Home of Thankfulness).’”
Umar - radi Allaahu ‘anhu - said, “We found the best of our provision to be patience.”
Part II: Towards Patience
The term Al-Qadaa’ wal Qadr is so easily inadequately translated. Some have translated it as pre-destiny, decree, etc.
Once, however, I was passing through a bookstore in Madinah and there I found a book on this topic. The translator had cleverly translated the term Qadr as: Pre-Recording.
So I thought to myself, for our TV culture, now there is a translation we can all understand. Everything that happens to us is pre-recorded with Allah ta’ala, nothing can happen except by his Will and knowledge.
When a death befalls someone, it is permissible to cry (without wailing) and to feel sadness in the heart.
When the son of Rasul Allah - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - was dying, he held his small body in his hand and began crying. The Sahaabah who saw him crying inquired, “What are these tears, O Messenger of Allah.”
He - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - replied, “The eye cries, and the heart is saddened, but we do not say anything other then that which is pleasing to our Lord, and we, indeed O Ibraheem, are saddened by our separation from you.”
However, we have picked up things from the culture of the non-Muslims, things that we do not find in the tradition dictated to us by the Lord of the worlds. For example:
To wear black specifically to honor the deceased.
Institutionalizing the placing of flowers at the site of the grave.
To lower a national flag in honor of the deceased.
There is no mention of a ‘moment-of-silence’ in our Deen.
There is no mention of Qur’an Khanis (gathering people to recite Qur’an for the deceased) in the Sunnah of Muhammad - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam. All goodness is in following the guidance of our Prophet.
There is no mention of gathering people 40 days after the death to recite Qur’an for the deceased.
There is no mention of having an annual gathering where guests recite the Qur’an for the deceased.
There is no mention in the Sunnah of collectively reciting surat al-Fatiha for the deceased.
So then what should we do?
We should hasten to pay off the debts of the deceased
We should give our condolences to the family of the deceased. This could be done in the Masjid, at the gravesite, at their homes, etc. But excessively long gatherings at the deceased’s home should not be encouraged.
We should make food for the family of the deceased and not burden them with having to make food for the entire community.
We should all attend the funeral prayer and, for men, follow the funeral to the gravesite. The women should not follow, as Umm Salamah said, “We were forbidden from following the funeral processions.”
We may give Sadaqah on behalf of the deceased, and we may perform Hajj on their behalf.
And above all, we should make Dua, and lots of it, for the deceased. This is how the Prophet - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - taught us, as in the funeral prayer and the hadith of the servant's actions being cut off except from three things - he mentioned, “… a pious child that makes dua for (the deceased).”
In conclusion, I would like to pass on the following good news to our beloved brother who lost his wife and two daughters.
Narrated Abu Hurayrah - radi Allaahu ‘anhu: Allah’s Messenger - sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam - said to a group of Ansari women, “There is no woman amongst you who has three children of hers die, yet she is patient, hoping for the reward from Allah, except that she shall enter Jannah.”
So a woman amongst them asked, “What about two children O Messenger of Allah?”
He replied, “Even two.”
May Allah ta’ala increase our brother’s reward, may Allah ta’ala perfect his patience, and may Allah forgive his family. Ameen.

What kind of pot plant has a tall pink flower coming out the middle? It usually sent to funerals.?
I think you might be talking about a Peace Lilly.
They have dark green, large leafed foliage. A stalk bears a single flower, which are usually white to pale pink. They fold over a bit at the top.

What do you think of this...?
This is a fan fiction for gossip girl. It's 8 years later after the show. So there like 24. I put it on www.fanfiction.net that's why it has the introduction thing at the beginning. Tell me what you think of it. I'm ready on chapter 5. This chapter 1. Thanks! :)
This is my second story of Gossip Girl. I wrote the story Triangle on here, if any of you have read it. I’m still working on it, but I might not update for a while on it, since I felt like making this story. It might suck, I don’t really know what’s going to happen yet in the story, just it takes place about…8 years later s they’re about 24. Please review and tell me if you like it or not. If people don’t like it then I’ll take it off. Thanks! =)
“Chuck, could you get the phone, please.” Blair said, putting in her earings on. While looking for her mascara.
“What?” Chuck said coming out of the bathroom, wearing a tux, with a toothbrush hanging out of his mouth.
“Never mind.” She said, heading for the phone in the kitchen.
“Mommy?” A quite voice came from the kitchen when she picked up the phone. Blair held up her index finger to quite her.
“Hello?” Blair said, politely on the phone. “Okay, yep, sure, see you then.” And with that she hung up.
“Mommy?” The little girl asked, now sitting at the kitchen table.
“Yes, Aud?” Blair said, looking for her mascara in her purse.
“Where are we going?” She asked.
“To a funeral.” Blair said, still looking for the mascara.
“What’s a f-funeral?” Audrey asked quietly.
“It’s when someone dies and you go pay you’re respect by going to hear stories about them and just going to remember the person.” She said, reaching way down in her purse. Ah, that’s where the mascara was.
“Who died?” She asked. Wide eyed.
“You know Nate?” Blair asked.
“Yeah!” She said, smiling. She loved Nate. “Will he be there too?” Now Audrey was excited.
“Well, of course. His dad died.” Blair said, sadly.
“Oh. Tell him he can borrow my dad if he wants.” She said, and was off into the living room to finish watching Arthur.
Blair smiled. She was pretty smart for a three year old. Her name was Audrey, but they called her Aud for short. She had long hair, Blair’s curls and Chuck’s coulor. Her face was mixed with both of their features. It all happened when Blair and Chuck started to go out again and the second time they slept together, she got pregnant. She was first scared then excited. She had always wanted to be a mom. When she told Chuck he suggested they get married, Blair thought he was crazy at first but then it grew on her and then they eloped in Las Vegas (AN; That’s what my parents did lol) Then about seven months later had Audrey. After her 3rd birthday Chuck and Blair started to fight a lot. It was all the stress in Audrey starting pre-school and just more work. Chuck came down stairs and broke her thoughts.
“You ready?” He said, putting on his tie.
“I just need to go get Aud in her dress.” She said going to get Audrey. “Oh yeah, we’re picking up Dan and Serena too on the way there.” She called to him from the living room.
“Okay.” Chuck said, wrapping the flowers that they brought Nate in paper.
Serena tried to reach for her black coat but couldn’t because her seventh month swelling belly was in the way. Dan walked up from the down stairs and almost ran straight over to her.
“Serena, Serena. Let me get it.” Dan said reaching for her coat way up top.
“Okay. But you know I’m capable of doing it. It just might take me a while.” She said pulling on the coat once Dan handed it to her.
“I really don’t think we have a sentry.” Dan said, pulling on his own coat.
Serena laughed. “Thanks. But I don’t think the world is ready for you lame jokes.” She went to sit on the couch in the family room.
Dan laughed too. “I’m going to go work, on my lab top, while you wait.” He said running to their room.
Serena looked around the room. First the fire place caught her eye. She looked at it. There a picture of Audrey smiling, at the beach. Then there was a picture of Dan and Serena on there wedding day. They got married on the beach in the Bahamas. Next was a picture of Chuck and Blair on their wedding day, looking all happy. Even though no one was invited to there wedding they still got lots of pictures done. Then next to it was a picture of Eric and Jenny in France. They weren’t married yet, but they have been going out for about a year now, After that picture there were no more. But Serena put her hand on her belly and knew that would soon change. Just then Serena heard a knock at the door, she was star told and walked up to the door, to open it. Once she did. She was star told even more.
“SERENA!!!!” Serena looked down and saw Audrey there, yelling her name. Then saw Blair coming up behind her. Audrey went to hug Serena.
“Hunny be careful.” Blair said, meaning Serena’s big stomach.
“OH RIGHT!” Audrey blushed, forgetting.
“It’s okay Aud.” Serena said, looking behind her to see Dan walking down the stairs.
“DANNY!!!” Audrey yelled once again. She had a habit of calling him that. But he didn’t mind.
“Hey, Adu.” Dan said, patting her head.
“Sorry, guys she just had to come up here with me, to get you guys.” Blair said, moving Audrey’s hand away from the flower she was about to pick.
“It’s alright.” Serena said smiling. Then they heard the horn honk from the car. They looked over and saw Chuck wearing his sunglasses, waiting.
“We should probably get going.” Blair laughed slightly.
“Yeah, just let me get my purse.” Serena said, going to get it off the bench in the front hall. When they were all set, they started walking to the car. Blair held Audrey’s hand.
“I want to hold Serena’s hand!” Audrey was like this every time she was around Serena. She loved her.
“Aud, were almost at the car. You can hold her hand when we get there.” Blair said, helping Audrey into the car and helping her into her car seat, then moving her pigtails out of the way to buckle her seatbelt. Audrey looked at Serena for her to approve. Serena just smiled and noted, then Dan and her got into the car. And they were off.
Once they got there, Audrey jumped out, once she got out of her car seat. Then waited for Serena to get out of the car and jumped up and grabbed her hand.
“Mommy where’s Nate?” Audrey asked really wanting to see him.
“He’s probably already here. But Aud please, don’t be foolish around him. He’s having a rough day. Just be nice to him. Okay?” Blair said. Meaning it.
“Okay.” Audrey said looking a little sad. But then right back to her normal self.
They saw Nate standing over by the stone in a black suit. They all walked over to him. Serena first.
“Hey Nate.” Serena said, hugging him.
“Hey.” Nate said, hugging her back, with all the strength he had.
“Eric and Jenny really wish they could be here, with you.” Serena said. Eric and Jenny were in Rome for two weeks and just got the news about Nate’s dad a week ago. They wished him all their love.
Then when everyone was finished hugging him and patting him on back. The service started. They all sat down to listen.
So was it any good? Be honest because if it’s not I won’t write anymore. The next chapter will be better, I hope. lol, please R%26amp;R, and I will love you forever! Thanks! =D

How do I get my phalaenopsis or doritaenopsis orchid to reflower?
I recieved this orchid from my grandfather's funeral one year ago. I did not know at the time that I was supposed to cut off the stem after the flowers all died. I haven't seen a flower since last winter. Is that normal? Now the old stem has a new green shoot growing out of one of the nodes, but, still no flower. Should I be cutting off the stems at the bottom or wait to see if it will flower? Please help! I have no idea what to do and I would really like to see the pretty white flowers again.
P.S. I have it narrowed down to a phalaenopsis or doritaenopsis orchid - is there a huge difference?
Thank you so much for your help!!! :)
How do I get my phalaenopsis or doritaenopsis orchid to reflower?
I can't easily tell you which of these 2 orchids that you have, without seeing it, but doritaenopsis are crosses between Phalaenopsis and Doritis, and are quite similar to Phalaenopsis.
They benefit from good indirect light levels and can suffer from scorching with direct sun. To initiate flowering, place your plant near to a windowsill - or on it, if free from direct sunlight and drafts. East facing windows, in the northern hemisphere are ideal. 62 to 65 degrees minimum temperature at night and 70 to 80 degrees during the daytime. It's important to get a difference between the day and night temperatures, to encourage flowering.
Aim to get good humidity levels, from around 50% - which you can do by placing some pebbles into a saucer, with some water, which will evaporate. I usually place this adjacent to my orchids, as they don't like to stand in water.
I don't fertilize mine that often, usually once a month or so. You can buy specialist orchid feed. If you use a feed with higher Phosphorous in the fall/winter, this will encourage buds to form. Though fertilizing does not need to be so frequent during these months, due to less growth being made.
When my flowers drop from my Phalaenopsis, I always wait for the stem to die back, as they frequently sprout side shoots with even more flowers, so I don't think that you have caused any problems: you may have gotten lucky, with more flowers. Sometimes the green shoots that you see at the base become aerial roots which in nature, would help anchor the orchid onto a tree, or its growing position - as well as helping to collect humidity. Don't cut these off.
It seems likely that the stems that you see growing out are also possible flower stems. You may just need to wait and see on this, and if the overall conditions are good, then you will get some flowers. I wouldn't cut them off, until they started to die.
I water my orchids by immersing in some room temperature water for just a few minutes, every other week or so. I let them nearly dry out between waterings. Clean rain water is good, as chemicals in tap water can shock them. The Phalaenopsis orchids can rot if left in water for too long a period.
Don't worry about not having seen flowers this year - they often start to initiate flower buds in the fall, so you may get very lucky through this winter.
Hope these thoughts help. Good luck! Rob
Reply:Most orchids are slow growers and only bloom once a year. Phalenopsis and Doritaenopsis orchids are excellent house plants since they can thrive under typical home conditions. Their flowers can last for months.
Your orchid must have grown at least a new pair of leaves this year and must be getting ready to bloom again. Just be patient. The spike can take 2 months to develop new flower buds. Don't cut anything just now.
In any case I suggest you research the culture notes available from the American Orchid Society. They will guide you on how to care for your orchid in your particular growing conditions.

I know this is not at a murder scene but in the first Final Destination film you get a scene after the plane blows up where the school is having a memorial service and the pupils get up and lay roses down at the memorial stone, lots of tear and sadness. Is that any help?

Strange Dream That's Bugging Me!?
This dream I had was kinda weird....
I was gng to a wake of a family member who had passed away.(no one in my family could go so I went) Thing is we had never meet this family member it was a very distant uncle...so as soon as I arrive to the funeral home(very pretty but it had a lot n I mean a lot of flowers) I go sign the guestbook n go "pay my respects" weird thing is.... there was no casket the body was on a chair like a sofa... n it was in a weird position. N He wasn't dressed up either.. People would go take him*an uncle who in my dream exists but in real life doesnt*flowers and go sob and say their goodbyes. But I was the ONLY ONE who found it odd and sorta scary that there wasn't a casket.
Now the dream gets scary when I went up to take him some flowers he started making a weird weezing noise..almost like a snoring soung then he started twitching...this obviously terrified me. He then woke up but in a scary kinda way....
What could this mean? Its kinda disturbing me :-/ I'm even scared to fall asleep cuz I might dream this all over again!!!
